My name is Alan Hooker (pronouns: ze/hir or they/them) and I’m a PhD candidate at the University of Exeter (UK). My research focuses on Yahweh’s sexuality and gender presentation in the Hebrew Bible and how this compares to deities in other ancient West Asian mythologies.
I am also interested in queer theory and queer/trans theologies, gender studies, theologies of the body, Mormonism, New Religious Movements, and esoterica.
My fiancé is Dr Jamie Bernthal, who’s about to publish his thesis which looks to queer the detective fiction of Agatha Christie.
